Are You a Terrible Boss?

Blog images for Bad Bosses

They say that nobody leaves a job; they leave a boss. The way an employee is managed on a daily basis has a huge impact on the way they work, the quality of their work and the amount of work they produce. More seriously, it may even have a negative impact on their health – a recent study showed that people with bad bosses are 30% more likely to suffer heart problems. If they are unlucky enough to have a bad boss, all of those things will suffer. In addition, bad bosses have a negative impact on the business’s bottom line – if an employee leaves because of their boss, it costs about £25,000 to replace them.
If you manage a team that is under-performing or making a lot of mistakes, have you considered that you might be part of the problem? You might think you’re a good boss, but they might think you’re a terrible boss. Here’s how you can tell if your management characteristics are in line with those generally cited by employees to be possessed by terrible bosses.
Non-existent or poor communication
If a boss doesn’t communicate what he wants or expects from his team in terms of deadlines, end results and so on, they end up having to guess, which can often lead to things going wrong. In addition, a company that isn’t open and transparent with employees about its direction, profits and processes can lose good employees who want to be fully aware of the way in which their employer operates.
No long-term planning or vision
Bosses have to promote a long-term plan for the company or for their individual teams in order to allow employees to become positively invested in the organisation’s mission. After all, if there are no obvious goals to aim for, what do employees have to look forward to with regard to coming into work every day?
No recognition for a job well done
In a similar vein, the best way to engage employees and increase the quality and productivity of their work is to ensure that their achievements are recognised and rewarded. Bad bosses ignore employees until they make a mistake and something goes wrong, which is when they pounce on them. If a good employee thinks that he or she will only be noticed when they do the wrong thing, they will leave.
No approachability
As senior members of staff, bosses need to be approachable when they are in the office. There might be questions about projects that need clarification, problems that need dealing with or other decisions that cannot be made by a non-senior person, and it slows down processes and tasks if employees do not feel as though they can bring something that requires attentions to their boss.
If these characteristics ring a bell with you, do not worry: help is at hand. This infographic by Thales L&D defines the seven traits of the ultimate leader, combining the styles of a managerial leader and a visionary leader, both of which have their positives but ultimately aren’t effective as management styles adopted on their own. With the help of the infographic, you should be able to correct the way in which you lead, bringing out the best in your motivated, happy team and ensuring that the business has a secure footing on which to move forward.

I WISH YOU ENOUGH

Recently I overheard a father and daughter in their last moments together at the airport. They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the father said, 'I love you, and I wish you enough.'

The daughter replied, 'Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough, too, Dad.'

They kissed and the daughter left. The Father walked over to the window where I was seated. Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry. I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, 'Did you ever say good-bye to someone knowing it would be forever?'

'Yes, I have,' I replied. 'Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever good-bye?'..

'I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is - the next trip back will be for my funeral,' he said.

'When you were saying good-bye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough..' May I ask what that means?'

He began to smile. 'That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone...' He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more. 'When we said, 'I wish you enough,' we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them.' Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear.

I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting.

I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger.

I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.

I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.

He then began to cry and walked away.

They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them; but then an entire life to forget them.
 * Only if you wish, send this to the people you will never forget. If you don't send it to anyone it may mean that you are in such a hurry that you have forgotten your friends.

 TAKE TIME TO LIVE....

To all my friends and loved ones, I WISH YOU ENOUGH.

Black money debate degenerating into a farce?

swissaccounts

Moneys parked in secret accounts in tax havens is not a mere tax evasion issue.
“It is respectfully submitted that due to increasing globalisation, it has become easier for taxpayers to make, hold and manage investments through financial institutions outside of their country of residence. Therefore, vast amounts of money are kept offshore and go untaxed to the extent that tax payers fail to comply with tax obligations in their home country.”
Now, this is not a lecturer of finance in High School pointing out to his student on the downsides of global financial architecture.
Rather, this is the preliminary submission of Government of India in a Writ filed last week with the Hon’ble SC. It is apparent from this submission that the government views the issue of money parked in secret accounts in tax havens solely as tax issue; to be sorted out by the tax man through the tax laws.
At the core of the misunderstanding of this issue is our inability to distinguish between Black Money [where buccaneers have not paid tax on such income] and Red Money where the source of such income itself is illicit and hence the owners seek to secret the amounts for obvious reasons.
Put pithily, the issue with Red Money is that it is invariably a by-product of drug running, illegal weapons sale, terror or corrupt money. Consequently, the owners seek to disassociate with the same fearing the penal consequence of such income and not – repeat not – taxes. Taxes is a minor irritant when it comes to Red Money.
Therefore to club Red Money – the higher of the two evils – with Black Money and thereby treat the entire issue of moneys parked in secret accounts in tax havens as a mere tax evasion issue when larger questions of the source of such income remains unanswered, is complete dilution of a serious issue.
But Why this debate on DTAA?
But if this up-front dilution shocks you, the repeated reference to Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement [DTAA] in this debate will stun you.
DTAA, as readers would know, is an agreement between two sovereign countries to ensure that income in one country to a tax payer in another is not taxed in both countries Viz., the country where the income originates as well as the country of residence of the tax payer.
Therefore, DTAA ensures that either the income is taxed in country of origin or in country where the tax-payer is resident. Thus, readers may note DTAA involves genuine tax payers having legitimate income and not to those who possess illicit income.
Just as a tax-payer is entitled to confidentiality of his income and taxes paid within a country, every DTAA provides clause for confidentiality of the information so exchanged between the two countries.
Article 26 of the DTAA between India and Germany deals with the issue of confidentiality of the information so exchanged between the two countries. Accordingly: “Any information received by a Contracting State shall be treated as secret in the same manner as information obtained under the domestic laws of that State and shall be disclosed only to persons or authorities (including courts and administrative bodies) involved in the assessment or collection of, the enforcement or prosecution in respect of, or the determination of appeals in relation to, the taxes covered by this Agreement.”
Again, one need not be a student of law to decipher the contents of Article 26. It is apparent that the confidentiality of the information applies only to situations where DTAA is applicable in the first place – i.e. to a legitimate income arising in one country to an honest tax-payer in another, not otherwise.
Surely, DTAA is not intended to benefit buccaneers evading taxes in both countries and definitely not those who shy from even owning the income in the first place. But this is what the Government of India is arguing with the apex court for the past three years without any let or fear of contradiction!
The emphasis strangely seems to be on the words “any information” without referring to the previous 25 Articles in the DTAA that deal only and only with income arising to a resident in India and having income in Germany [or vice-versa] and nothing else.
Stunned? Now get Stumped!
If the reference to the Indo-German DTAA and the consequential debate on confidentiality is stunning, the reference to origin of the “information” would stump you. The origin of this information is not in Germany, but Liechtenstein.
It is often remarked that people all over the world park their dirty money in Switzerland. And the Swiss? Well it is Liechtenstein – popularly called the ugly wart in the otherwise beautiful face of Europe. In fact, the origin of this “information” is from the LGT Bank in Liechtenstein, where the Germans were successful in prising open the details of account holders by apparently bribing an employee of that Bank.
Having obtained the details in 2008, the Germans were willing to share the “information” [i.e. the data they obtained illegally from LGT Bank] with all sovereign governments. And that included India. It is pertinent to note that we dithered till 2011 when the hydraulic pressure of public opinion forced the then UPA government to seek this “information” from Germans, inexplicably under DTAA.
Now where does DTAA between India and Germany figure in this illegal data obtained from Lichtenstein by Germans? Why did the then UPA Government seek information under DTAA? Did the Germans share this information with other countries under the respective DTAA or did it provide it in normal course? And crucially where is the confidential clause in such “information” obtained illegally?
Questions for which there are no answers.
Strangely, having criticised the previous UPA Government when it was in office for seeking information under the DTAA, the NDA is now explaining the virtues of DTAA and explaining as to why the Hon’ble SC should treat information obtained from Germany – read Liechtenstein – as confidential and not reveal the names of account holders.
Wonders never cease, do they?
It may be noted that the “information” from Germany comprises details of a mere 18 account holders against whom the Income-tax department has, according to the recent Writ filed in the Hon’ble SC, concluded investigations under the Indian tax laws and launched prosecutions.
But this Liechtenstein data obtained through Germany is a trailer of a magnum opus. The next set of data were received from the French when they did lay hands on an employee of Zurich Branch of HSBC, Switzerland. This data from France contains the names of approximately 700 Indians. It is not clear at this point whether the Government of India is citing the confidentiality clause in the Indo-French DTAA also. If they do, let us be clear, it is an elaborate charade.
What is interesting is that the data obtained thus far – from Switzerland through the French authorities and Liechtenstein through the German authorities is divine providence. On both cases, the Government of India has nothing to show for its own efforts.
It may not be out of place to mention that for the past decade the Government of India [under the UPA of course] has played footsie with such account holders by not having one successful indigenous probe. And even as the French and German have done and provided data to us on a platter, the UPA Government acted with great reluctance and with a calculated aim to obfuscate.
Naturally, that brings us to the question on the need to differentiate between “Black” and “Red” Money. Money parked in secret accounts abroad in a tax haven for fear of taxes by a businessman is purely Black Money. World over tax havens cater to the need of such businessmen. It is a sin but of a lesser order.
But the real issue is Red Money. And surely that sustains tax havens which offer secrecy to generators of “Red” money, launders it and allows it to be re-cycled into global economy as lily white clean money.
It is therefore natural that the names of the red money account holders – the drug peddler or the corrupt minister – that is of interest to the nation as the entire Red money – not merely the tax portion belongs to the Government. And on this, there cannot be any secrecy, DTAA or no DTAA.
Strangely, the Government of India seems to be oblivious to this distinction. By seeing this as a “Black Money” problem and hence addressing the same purely as a tax evasion issue and leaving it to the tax authorities to deal with the same, we are guilty of diluting the issue.
More pertinently, the UPA is guilty of seeking this information from the Germans under the DTAA. And even if the Germans have provided the information under the DTAA and now object to the same being made public, the NDA government must explain the position to the Germans as it should to the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
And either way – DTAA does not apply to “Red Money.” Over to Hon’ble Supreme Court for a precise ruling on this issue.
Else the debate on the issue is fast degenerating into a farce.

Arun Shourie on Handling Terrorism

Arun Shourie on Handling Terrorism
Post agreement on ceasefire between India and Pakistan in 2003, the state of Jammu and Kashmir witnessed maximum civilian casualties. This was the reason that the PM had given Indian forces a “free hand” when it came to dealing with firing from Pakistan’s side. This is something which noted journalist, author and former minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government, Arun Shourie, has been advocating since many years.
Lectures that Mr. Shourie delivered in the Rajya Sabha form the first two parts of the book “We Must Have No Price”. In the first chapter Mr. Shourie gave plenty of examples of how as a nation we have not paid attention to national security and then act surprised when we face attacks from terrorists. While giving an example of how vulnerable is our long coast is he writes, “Now Lakhsdweep has 36 islands. Ten of these are inhabited. Talking of one of these islands, Suheli, the Task Force pointed out that, sea vessels of smugglers apart, “there have been instances of twin rotor helicopters (of the kind used by militaries) landing at Suheli Island and spotting of unidentified helicopters flying in the waters around the islands…””
Despite this Intelligence gathering on islands was carried on by one Head Constable/Constable who reports to the Officer in Charge (OIC) of the police station who in turn passes it on to the Inspector (Special Branch) at Kavaratti. Post 2008 Mumbai attack the only change is that the Inspector (Special Branch) at Kavaratti is now designated as Joint Assistant Director or Deputy Central Intelligence Officer depending on his cadre.
Mr. Shourie suggests the to dos for protecting our nation against terror attacks in the future.
First – act on recommendations that are made by committees set up.
Second – send better type of into legislatures and, thence, to governments. When we select leaders who treat the police as their private army; when we select leaders for whom investigating agencies are instruments to fix rivals or let off allies, don’t expect the police and agencies to suddenly turn around and forestall terrorists.
Third – remember that little can be achieved unless every aspect of governance, is brought up to par. You can’t have a first-rate commando force and a third-rate magistracy. You can’t have defence and intelligence personnel who will nab terrorists and courts that will let them off, or, better still, enable them to live off the Treasury as State guests for years.
Fourth – a weakened and confused society explains as much, and the responsibility lies as much with those who have dissipated national resolve, who have made nationalism a dirty word.
Fifth – we must have the sternest of law in the world. But having the law is not enough. We must enforce it. And enforcing the law means carrying out sentences that he law provides.
Finally – have a clear realisation of the condition of the society and State of Pakistan. Unless you come across evidence that the nature of the State and society of Pakistan has changed, it is idiotic to put faith in the profession of this ruler or that.
Mr. Shourie adds that,
“But for nay of this to happen, the society has to be clear in its mind. This is, it has for 20 years been, war. It can be won only by overwhelming the adversary – not by running after the terrorist, as K P S Gill says, but by out-running him, indeed by over-running him. Not an eye for an eye. For an eye, both eyes. Not a tooth for a tooth. For a tooth, the whole jaw. Human rights? Yes, we will respect the human rights of the terrorists and their sponsors and their local supporters to the extent that they respect the human rights of our people.”

Nice Intervew Questions and Answers

These are few questions asked in HR interview... The answers are really stunning and inspiring........ Thinking out of the box...! A must READ......

 Question 1:

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily, when suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus:

 * An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

 * An old friend who once saved your life.

 * The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car?

This is a moral/ethical dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.

 He simply answered:

"I would give the car keys to my Old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."

 Question 2:

What will you do if I run away with your sister?

The candidate who was selected answered " I will not get a better match for my sister than you sir"

THE BOILING FROG SYNDROME..!!

THE BOILING FROG SYNDROME..!!
Put a frog in a vessel of water and start heating the water...
As the temperature of the water rises, the frog is able to adjust its body temperature accordingly...
The frog keeps on adjusting with increase in temperature...
Just when the water is about to reach boiling point, the frog is not able to adjust anymore...
At that point the frog decides to jump out...
The frog tries to jump but is unable to do so, because it lost all its strength in adjusting with the water temperature...
Very soon the frog dies. What killed the frog?
Many of us would say the boiling water...
But the truth is what killed the frog was its own inability to decide when it had to jump out...
We all need to adjust with people and situations, but we need to be sure when we need to adjust and when we need to confront / face...
There are times when we need to face the situation and take the appropriate action...
If we allow people to exploit us physically, mentally, emotionally or financially, they will continue to do so...
I believe similar go with situations in life, e.g. your job or a relationship......
We have to decide when to jump...
Let us jump while we still have the strength !!
Think on It !!

Indians Abroad Vs. Indians in India

Indians Abroad vs Indians in INDIA. This one is so True. and.....The REASONS for NOT going up the ladder, in India are SO TRUE as well.Indians Abroad Vs Indians in India. ALL INDIANS MUST READ THIS. Please pass this one ON, to every Indian, that you know, all over the world.I would like to sum up our performance in the 20th century in one sentence. Indians have succeeded in countries ruled by whites, but failed in their own. This outcome would have astonished leaders of our independence movement. They declared Indians were kept down by white rule and could flourish only under self-rule. This seemed self-evident. The harsh reality today is that Indians are succeeding brilliantly in countries ruled by whites, but failing in India. They are flourishing in the USA and BRITAIN. But those that stay in India are pulled down by "An Outrageous System That Fails to Reward Merit or Talent, fails to allow people and businesses to grow, and keeps real power with netas, babus, and assorted manipulators. Once Indians go to white-ruled countries, they soar and conquer summits once occupied only by whites.RONO DUTTA has become head of UNITED AIRLINES, the biggest airline in the world. Had he stayed in India, he would have no chance in Indian Airlines. Even if the top job there was given to him by some godfather, a myriad netas, babus and trade unionists would have ensured that he could never run it like United Airlines.VIKRAM PUNDIT has become head of Citigroup, which operates Citibank, one of the largest banks in the world.
RANA TALWAR has become head of STANDARD CHARTERED BANK, one of the biggest multinational banks in Britain, while still in his 40s. Had he been in India, he would perhaps be a local manager in the State Bank, taking orders from babus to give loans to politically favoured clients.RAJAT GUPTA is head of McKINSEY, the biggest Management Consultancy firm in the world. He now advises the biggest multinationals on how to run their business. Had he remained in India he would probably be taking orders from some sethji with no qualification save that of being born in a rich family.LAKHSMI MITTAL has become the Biggest STEEL Baron in the World, with steel plants in the US, Kazakhstan, Germany, Mexico, Trinidad and Indonesia. India 's socialist policies reserved the domestic steel industry for the public sector. So Lakhsmi Mittal went to Indonesia to run his family's first steel plant there. Once freed from the shackles of India, he conquered the world.
SUBHASH CHANDRA of Zee TV has become a global Media king, one of the few to beat Rupert Murdoch. He could never have risen had he been limited to India, which decreed a TV monopoly for Doordarshan. But technology came to his aid: satellite TV made it possible for him to target India from HONG KONG. Once he escaped Indian rules and soil, he soared.GURURAJ DESHPANDE: 48-year old GURURAJ Deshpande. His Communications company, SYCAMORE, is currently valued by the US stock market at over $ 30 Billion, making him perhaps one of the richest Indians in the world. Had he remained in India, he would probably be a babu in the Department of Telecommunications.
ARUN NETRAVALI has become president of BELL LABS, one of the biggest research and development centres in the world with 30,000 inventions and several Nobel Prizes to its credit. Had he been in India, he would probably be struggling in the middle cadre of Indian Telephone Industries. SILICON VALLEY alone contains over 100,000 INDIAN MILLIONAIRES. INDRA KRISHNAMURTHY NOOYI has become since 2006 the CEO of PEPSICO INC., a Fortune 500 company. SABEER BHATIA invented HOTMAIL and sold it to MICROSOFT for $ 400 million. VICTOR MENEZES is number two in CITIBANK. SHAILESH MEHTA is CEO of PROVIDIAN, a top US Financial Services Company. RAKESH GANGWAL of US AIR, JAMSHED WADIA of ARTHUR ANDERSEN, and AMAN MEHTA of Hong Kong Shanghai Banking Corp., are at or near the Top.
In WASHINGTON D.C., the Indian CEO High Tech Council has no less than 200 MEMBERS, all high tech-chiefs. While Indians have soared, India has stagnated. At independence, India was the most advanced of all Colonies, with the best prospects. Today with a GNP per head of $370, it occupies a lowly 177th position among 209 countries of the world. But poverty is by no means the only or main problem. India ranks near the bottom in the UNDP's Human Development Index, but high up in Transparency International's Corruption Index. The neta-babu raj brought in by socialist policies is only one reason for India's failure. The more sordid reason is the Rule-Based society we inherited from the British Raj is today in tatters. Instead Money, Muscle and Influence matter most.At Independence, we were justly proud of our Politicians. Today we regard them as Scoundrels and Criminals. They have created a Jungle of Laws in the holy name of Socialism, and used these to line their pockets and create Patronage Networks. No influential crook suffers. The Mafia flourish unhindered because they have political links. The sons of Police Officers believe they have a licence to Rape and Kill (ask the Mattoo Family). TALENT cannot take you far amidst such Rank Misgovernance. We are reverting to our Ancient Fudal System where no rules applied to the powerful. The British Raj brought in abstract concepts of Justice for All, Equality before the Law. These were maintained in the early years of independence. But sixty years later, citizens wail that "INDIA is a LAWLESS LAND" where no rules are obeyed.I have heard of an IAS Probationer at the Mussorie Training Academy pointing out that in India before the British came, making money and distributing favours to relatives was not considered a "Perversion Of Power", it was the very "Rationale Of Power". A Feudal Official had a duty to enrich his Family and Caste. Then the British came and imposed a new ethical code on officials. But, he asked, why should we continue to choose British Customs over Desi ones, now that we are independent? The Lack of Transparent Rules, properly enforced, is a Major Reason why Talented Indians cannot rise in India. A Second Reason is the Neta-Babu Raj, which remains intact despite supposed liberalisation. But once talented Indians go to Rule-Based Societies in the West, they take off. In those societies "All People Play By The Same Rules", all have `Freedom To Innovate' without being strangled by regulations. This, then, is WHY Indians succeed in Countries Ruled By Whites, and fail in their own. This is the saddest story of the century for all Indians.

Corporate Facts

While working in a corporate culture, you may face very idiotic situations where you will find yourself so depressed and it will give you a sign of “job dissatisfaction”. One who wants to sustain in industry for longer time then it is utmost important to adopt some basis skillsets at his work. Once you are tied up with your company which is having global presence, your profile is not limited only to your domain / core area. You will be forced to handle unrelated assignments. Despite of this, many people have successfully achieved required skillsets. If you consider following aspects at your workplace, highest position will knock your door soon! Following factors are most effective time wasters in the corporate:

1. Unwanted telephone interruptions / calls where you are completely unlinked
2. Unwanted meetings where you play NIL role
3. No clarity of action plan
4. Unwanted resources involved in simple tasks
5. Rigid processes for execution
6. Half information
7. No support from other team members
8. Escalation tactics
9. No team work

One of my senior educated me by saying this: 80% of our time wastes to accomplish only 20% of our objects. I feel abovementioned situations are fit case for disturbance of your corporate growth. TEAM WORK with a proper discipline is essential for corporate growth.

Manage your time effectively:

1. Block your outlook calendar regularly and from time to time
2. Plan your personal leaves in advance and keep your boss in loop in well advance
3. Delegate a right work to right subordinates at right time
4. Set realistic goals
5. Short term, medium term and long term planning is important
6. Prioritize your assignments in the criteria: URGENT>IMPORTANT>ROUTINE
7. Set deadlines and then start working
8. Do not work to achieve deadlines, work to achieve objectives in the deadlines set
9. Outsource routine work to outside consultants which will help you to save your time
10. Concentrate on managerial decision making process instead of execution of task

These are very small things which will enhance your corporate skillsets in your organization. If you stick to one management principle “Work your plan – plan your work”, I believe 5 days a week will be more than sufficient for you!!!

A Letter to Montek Singh Ahluwalia

THIS IS AN EPIC LETTER WRITTEN BY A COMMON CITIZEN OF INDIA TO MONTEK SINGH AHLUWALIA ON HIS Rs. 32.00/DAY REMARKS. I AM POSTING IT HERE CAUSE I LIKED IT.

CREDIT GOES TO ORIGINAL WRITER

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Montek Singh Ji,
Our country is going through a lot of changes now, where people have
started standing up and have started asking questions on various government
policy decisions. And the way decisions are being taken at government level it feels
very right for the people to stood up and ask for the basis of these decisions. After
the policy decisions made and the money being spent on these schemes are for our
country’s people. Recently an affidavit has been submitted in Supreme court where
it has been stated that Poverty Line in Rural Ares stands at income of Rs. 26/- per
day for Rural Poor and Rs. 32 per day/- for Urban Poor.
We on behalf of residents of Ghaziabad are writing this letter to you with
deep regret, that such type of affidavits are being submitted by Government in
Supreme Court, which not only seems illogical but also is about playing with
sentiments of our own people. It is very hard to imagine that how one can live in
this amount of Rs. 26/- or Rs.32/- per day.
We have few points which we want to highlight..............
1. Inflation levels in our country are very well known to everybody. Under these
high prices of almost everything and especially Food Articles, how this small
amount can be justified to be a benchmark of deciding Poverty Line in our
country.
2. There are number of government Schemes running in our country for BPL
people. These schemes are costing our government more than Rs. 50/- per
person. How can this be justified, that a person with income of Rs. 30/- be
given a benefit of schemes worth Rs. 50/- and a person with income of Rs.
33/- is not getting benefited. If this is so simple to live with an amount of Rs.
32/- why don’t government simply gives Rs. 2/- to a person earning Rs. 30/-
(means just a difference of amount he is earning less than benchmark set by
government).
3. Schemes being run by government just seem to be a ploy to get votes and a
way to corruption, because it is not benefitting all people who are required to
be benefitted.
4.
Will this strategy of reducing number of people below the poverty line help
us to reduce poverty? Is it the only way left with us that we close our eyesand just try to put a feel good picture to all. Then how we are going to
develop our India with these poor guys being ignored.
5. Or is it a fashionable statement to be made in the court where anybody can
say anything, without even taking care of the severity of the matter.
If this is the case then we as citizens of India think that we have every right
to stand up and ask some tough questions. More than a right it is becoming a
obligation now, as government or decision maker are taking our lives too
lightly. Now it is a time that government becomes accountable to its people
to answer each and every step they take. We shall not wait for the next
elections to come to ask answers.
With this letter we expect some sincere answers and some corrective action
from government part. And if still government and you feels that statements
made by government in court and actions taken by you are right and are in
healthy spirit to run the country, we present along with this letter to you
seven cheques of Rs. 33/- each and invite you to come out of your house and
luxuries and let us feel how it works in this amount of Rs. 33/- .
Further as we undersigned are spending more than 10 times (Rs. 400/-) of
the set amount per day, then we shall be termed as ultra rich, and we
demand police protection, as it will become very unsafe to travel with Rs.
500/- in pocket.
On the ending note we would say that we are deeply concerned the way our
country is being run and statements are being made out. We expect from you
and our government that lets starts taking our country bit more seriously to
help us and to help our own people.
Regards.......
Citizens of India
